InterVol is run by dedicated student volunteering committees at five universities in the United Kingdom. Our volunteering committees at the University of Birmingham, Imperial College London, Lancaster University, University of Nottingham and Oxford Brookes work around the year to recruit our volunteers and support them in fundraising, training for and planning their projects.
The practical experience our projects provide are often cited by our volunteers as being a key factor in securing employment following graduation. Many of our volunteers have used their experiences of project planning and teamwork to secure graduate roles across a range of industries.
Many of InterVol’s volunteers go on to work in the third sector and international development; in recent years our volunteers have gone on to work and volunteer at the Department for International Development, Oxfam, World Challenge, the British Red Cross, The European Union, the Duke of Edinburgh Award, VSO, Save the Children, and the World Bank.
Trustees & Advisors
The board of trustees is made up of former university volunteers and staff from InterVol’s university branches and between them they have extensive knowledge of volunteering overseas, international development and the third sector. The trustees and advisors support the InterVol university committees to evaluate and improve our work and also build beneficial relationships with other charities and universities.
